Sitting on pole position for the 1976 Canadian Grand Prix, James Hunt certainly had plenty on his mind before embarking on his 50th Grand Prix.

Having been told by the FIA Court of Appeal that his victory at the British Grand Prix no longer stood, James knew he had to deliver – especially with Niki Lauda 5 spots back on the grid.

Having lost his lead to Ronnie Peterson at the start, James reclaimed top spot 9 laps later and went on to take the victory, while Niki eased off due to a suspension link failure, finishing the race in 8th spot and out of the points.

So, James left the Canadian Grand Prix with exactly the same points he had going into it – and more importantly for him, the same 8 point deficit to his rival for the championship - something more for him to think about with just 2 races left.
